What Did I Do Today? Really?

Business side - I am working on my sample set. Building up a supply of perfume and bath oil samples. Personal fragrance, especially, can be hard to commit to unless you get to try them out first. Working on my networking. I have to admit, though, its hard! For a few reasons. Time being the biggest! Its so hard to find a few minutes to work just on networking and promoting with 2 babies at foot!

Wake up. Change diapers. Give Dixsan a bottle. Make breakfast. Serve breakfast. Make Devan's lunch. Clean up breakfast. Get Devan off to school. Change diapers. Give Dixsan a bottle. Give Dylan his milk. Play. Give Dixsan a bottle. Change diapers. Make lunch. Serve lunch. Clean up lunch. Clean up Dylan. Put Dylan down for a nap. Take a break (which means clean the house, fold laundry, load or unload the dishwasher). Give Dixsan a bottle. Dylan's up. Change diapers. Play. Daddy's home. Devan's home from school. Make snacks. Serve snacks. Clean up. Play. Cook dinner. Do homework. Serve dinner. Give Dixsan a bottle (cuz you know he's always hungry when we are eating!) Clean up dinner. Bathtime. Give Dylan milk. Get kids ready for bed. Change diapers. Bedtime for Devan and Dixsan. Give Dixsan a bottle. Watch a little tv. Go to bed. Wake up and repeat!

Sometimes when I feel like I haven't accomplished anything all day it helps to write down my schedule. Then I read through it and remember why I haven't accomplished anything!
Looking forward to the weekend! Going camping with our friends. Well, some are camping. We are lucky enough to be staying in a cabin. I love camping, don't get me wrong, but I love staying in a house even more! It will be good times, good chance to let some steam off.

Last time we went to our friends cabin we passed this truck on the way - little itty bitty truck with 2 quads loaded in the bed. Love it!

Dylan on the quad - its only a matter of time before he figures out how to drive it. Yikes!

A boys paradise. That's Brandan and Devan on the backhoe. Boys paradise outside. the cabin is pretty girlie (phew). Oh well. With 3 boys (well 4 really, Brandan is just a big kid essentially) I better get used to it!

Almost forgot...

My new favorite "snack"

a package of shredded cabbage (or coleslaw mix) or if you have the time shred your own
a container of pico de gallo or make your own
a bunch of cilantro (shred food processor)

you can add in extra onions, jalepenos, tomatoes, etc to your liking

combine, and voila!

(sorry I don't have a picture to post - I ate all of it while I was searching for my camera!)

Great for a dip with chips. Also awesome on burgers (hooray for bbq season!)

Beautiful Day

Woke up to a cool, crisp morning. I wondered what happened to the sun and warm they predicted, but its here now! The sun is out!!

So, I mentioned in my first post that I am starting the journey of selling my products. The process to get here has been long, and I suspect that this road I am taking won't have many shortcuts! Through my blog I plan on chronicling my life and the life of my company, Dewberry Oils.

I'll spare the details of my past, and just start at the present. But to catch you up... I am blessed with the most amazing family ever. I love my husband, Brandan, for better and for worse. I met him and his son Devan about 4 years ago. We got married in a little itty bitty town up on the peninsula. Awesome wedding on the beach, everyone stayed for the weekend, some people camped out (we did too), some stayed in the town's hotels (I think there are 4?). And we had a blast! Our reception was outdoors and was lit with candles and the little white christmas lights strung everywhere. And by 2 large bonfires! Anyways, it was incredible. 6 months later I was pregnant with Dylan. 4 months after he was born (I think I have my math right) I was pregnant with Dixsan. So we have myself, Brandan, Devan (who is now 7. 7 1/2 if you ask him), Dylan (18 months) and Dixsan (4 months).

This weekend was Devan's 3rd baseball game. What a perfect day for it! Too perfect actually. Got a nice little burn on my shoulders - oops. Being fair skinned and an esthetician I should definatley know better. That's life with 3 boys - I'm lucky if I remember to brush my teeth and leave the house with shoes on!

A week or so ago now I opened up my first online shop, through Etsy. No sales yet but I gotta start somewhere! I am searching for other online venues to sell my products and other ways to get my product out there. That's what its all about, right! In the meantime its all about promote, promote, promote. I have to admit, that's not my strength. But I will give it everything I've got. Like anyone, I would love for my products to take off and to make lots of money doing what I love. My first goal is to make enough money to keep restocking my supplies so I can keep creating. My second goal is to have enough left over to pay for all the activities my boys are involved in now and in the future!
Unfortunately nap time in the Martin househould is coming to an end...

A quick moment...

I don't have much time to write, just a quick moment's peace. Devan (7) and Dylan (17 months) are off with Daddy at the skate park. We have some amazing weather this weekend, and are trying to soak up every minute of it! So Dixsan (3 months) and I are hanging together at home for a bit while the big boys are off playing. Not too often we get some quiet time together...

Not much to say for today, mostly just was wondering what it was like to type without a toddler reaching up to the keyboard trying to help!

The Journey Begins...

For quite a while now I have had this goal, this idea in my head that I can't get out. It started back when I was first introduced to essential oils. I wanted to learn everything about them. As an esthetician I was of course interested in how they affected the skin, but I wanted to know more. How did they affect the rest of the body, and most interestingly (to me) how did they affect the mind, the spirit.

I became obsessed! I learned everything I could. I became a licensed aromatherapist. I began blending oils, and blending some more, and blending until I couldn't blend anymore! I have always enjoyed blending essential oils to be added into skin care products, and it turns out I enjoy making these products as well. My real passion, though, lies in making customized blends for a person. What's going on in their life? Stressed at work, not sleeping, headaches, are they happy or unhappy, what emotional goals do they have. Once I have an idea, an impression of the person as a whole, I love to create a personalized blend for them that they can wear as a fragrance.

It has been my goal, my dream for quite some time now to turn this into a business. To be able to create blends, whether premade for a specific purpose, or custom blended. I was well on the road, and then my husband and I got pregnant, so I needed to put it on hold (not so good whiffing all the powerful essential oils on a regular basis while preggers). Just when I started to get back into the swing of things, voila, I was pregnant again! Well, now the time is here. I am ready to go!

I have recently opened up shop on Etsy, and with a little luck and a lot of hard work, I am looking forward to putting my goals into action.
